How Our Speed Test Works
Connection & Initialization
When you start a test, your browser connects to the nearest Cloudflare data center through their Anycast network. This ensures optimal routing and minimal latency, giving you results that reflect real-world performance.
Ping & Latency Test
We send multiple small data packets to measure round-trip time and identify any connection instability. This gives you insight into your connection's responsiveness, crucial for gaming and video calls.
Download Speed Test
Using multiple simultaneous HTTP connections, we download test data while progressively increasing the load. This technique accounts for TCP slow-start and accurately measures your maximum download throughput.
